I use the speakers in my home studio for mix, voice and instrumental compo. The music style edm, hip hop, mainly pop rock.
Personally, I really like the design of the brand. At my workplace, we also have the model sc307 and that's partly what motivated my choice to move to the model above. Above all, I really want to clarify if someone wants to take the same risk as me, ie bet for a home studio. Put the package really on the treatment of your room. Sound? the rendering of the bass? First of all, I had to bring an acoustical friend to examine the room and treat as best as possible, because at this level I had big problems (the power makes you simply vibrate in a small room like mine ). Once all treated I find that the clarity at the bottom is really formidable. the really nice mediums and the highs are clear and defined.Overall I am very satisfied with this choice across the spectrum. The stereo image is just superb. You can really do some surgical work. Mono and stereo come off sublime and that's what fascinates me the most about these speakers.
I happen to work late at night at very low volume (children's room next door lol) and the next day listening to reasonable, no surprises! The levels are the same and that's the top! Conclusion really accurate stereo image, a powerful and controlled low, clear and precise mediums of sweet highs that do not tire over a long period of work. The least, really nothing for now.
I was able to test barefoot mm27 gen 2 which should be the alternative (they have spoken to me a lot too) but questions budget ... I do not regret my choice and I do it again with your eyes closed. If you like the sound of audio eve and you have the room and the necessary treatment you can go without hesitation !!
...I listened to many speakers, active, passive, classified hi-fi, classified monitors. I lingered in stores in the USA, Europe, Canada and Japan.
Finally, I bought the SC408 from Eve Audio. You should know that they are very good for mixing in a studio as well as for listening to music simply in a linving, accompany the television and even sound a small room of 100 people.
I added a subwoofer T112 that brings a plus and goes down very low in the spectrum. Be careful not to push the volume of the box too high to avoid breaking the dishes in the cabinets. The effect is spectacular and you will actually shake in your chair when passing a rocket on your TV. It's great.
Following a small installation problem (an error on my part) I appealed to the after-sales service which was of an unfailing efficiency to help me. It only took an hour to get everything back in order.
I disassembled a monitor to put the tweeter vertically and I found that the finish and the choice of components is very high level. It is clear that the engineers of this firm understood how to put the various elements in a monitor (the technical reasons are too complex to develop them here and I will not reveal their secret). Most other brands still make serious mistakes when building their monitors.
You can install them at a distance of 5 cm from a wall but not directly against a wall due to the presence of a cooling radiator and large ventilation openings.
Since they can also be used in a home, it would be necessary to provide in the front a cloth cover, everyone does not like to see the cones, design requires.
In a studio, listening is as good in proximity as in distance. You just have to change the steering angle depending on whether they are on the table or a few meters in front of you.
They do not tire even at high volume unlike many other brands, especially high frequencies, which is a huge problem with this type of tweeter. It is clear that the electronics behind have managed to ensure that the highs are clear and never screaming.
The combination of 3 cones and a tweeter brings a balance in the sound that is perfect and if corrections must be made depending on where it is, the possibilities of adjustment are possible with great finesse.
The stereo image is amazing but it must be positioned with a cancellation of about 20 ° to 30 °. If you hang them on the ceiling, plan to direct them with a vertical of about 10 ° to 20 °.
The sound is very neutral and all the frequencies are reproduced in a balanced way. I did not find any holes or diminutions in listening. When comparing with other monitors, they came out each time with a superior and warm sound.
Details in sounds not picked up with other monitors appeared immediately and effortlessly with the SC408. The bass is dry, not slobbery at all and powerful.
Difficult to describe further a sound in a text, you have to listen to judge. When comparing with other monitors, the SC408 stood out each time with a big difference...
...Following my advice, I did buy a pair of SC408 to a friend in France who trusted me without listening to them beforehand. He can not do without it.
If I advise them, it's because I've had the opportunity to do so many comparisons, listening, all over the world, what few people do. Stores, in general, only have a limited set of monitors in demonstration...
If you are looking for a combination of both quality precision and power for your main studio speakers, you can't go wrong with the SC4 series.
Both models - the SC407 and SC408 - feature a very powerful amplifier array, with one amplifier per driver. The larger woofers duplicate all frequencies up to a certain crossover frequency. The mid-range woofer picks up from there. This also means all our four-way speakers are symmetrical, as the woofers do not serve different frequency bands, but essentially duplicating the bass frequencies with an utmost preciseness.
The result? Incredible bass reproduction, a very linear response, and plenty of power to shake up your main studio control room.
The stylish grey plate in the middle of the speaker not only houses the midrange woofer and AMT tweeter, but it can also be rotated so that you can place your speaker vertically or horizontally.
The SC408 is the largest four-way system monitor that EVE Audio produces and the perfect choice for larger control rooms where engineers look for the correct combination of power and precision.
A pair of 8" SilverCone woofers with its glass fibre coated diaphragm in honeycomb structure and low distortion copper cap magnet system cover the frequency range from an earthshattering 32 Hz up to 250 Hz. This will guarantee you a powerful, accurate and tight bass reproduction. A sophisticated 1.5" voice coil is responsible for creating a greater linear excursion, which will give you a very clear and accurate bass.
A 5" midrange unit, specially developed for SC408 uses our very low distortion copper cap magnet system and completes the system together with the Air Motion Transformer RS3 (AMT Ribbon System 3). The AMT RS3 – the same as in the SC407 model – houses a bigger magnet system to deliver a higher output level with virtually less distortion.
Each driver is provided with its own PWM amplifier for a total short-term output power of 800 W. With a maximum output level of 118dB (SPL @ 1 m), there's plenty of power to keep the air moving, even in the larger control rooms.
The SC408 combines a perfectly powerful bass with a transparent mid-range and crystal clear high frequency reproduction. For those reasons, we believe it will be the tool of choice for most mid-size to larger control rooms and studios.
As with every other EVE Audio speaker, you get both balanced XLR inputs and unbalanced RCA inputs for greater convenience.
With every EVE Audio speaker, you also get high resolution DSP electronics. One push knob operation and you will have access to accurate volume control and several different filter settings that will help you tailor your monitors to the way you work. And if you always avoid digital processing, we've got you covered. The DSP engine is supported with a high quality A/D converter (24bit/192kHz) from Burr-Brown, which delivers a pristine signal to the DSP section. And since the PWM amplifiers are directly connected to the DSP, no additional conversion is necessary. Please visit our DSP page to learn more about our DSP philosophy.
It's all in the geometry. One of the downside effects of port compression is bass distortion. As you turn up the volume, the efficiency of the port reduces and distortion will increase.
We opted for a large rear rectangular port with no hard edges for our bass port designs. That's one of the reasons EVE monitors have a high efficiency on the lower frequencies.
The results? High sound pressures with tight and punchy bass frequencies that don't cause port distortion. Crank up the volume, and EVE will deliver a round bass. And with no holes to look at every time you glance at your speakers.
